This is a day I'll never forget. I woke up with a sore back - general left overs from some lifting and work we've been doing around the house. My back has actually been sore for a few weeks, but nothing horrible. However, this morning it was definitely feeling pulled. When I got out of bed I immediately felt sick to my stomach and headed for the bathroom (ahhh morning sickness). There was little doubt I was going to throw up and I got down on my knees, but my sore back made it incredibly difficult. Suddenly I started to feel dizzy and I went to retch and *POP* the most blinding pain I've ever experienced. I just passed out. I came too quickly but was incredibly scared. I was sweating all over, but good news is the pain radiating from my back trumped the nausea. I was pretty hysterical and called Tyler who has almost just reached work, I called my mom and then Scott P. took me to the hospital.
Scott was a ROCKSTAR and drove me calmly to the hospital. I'm pretty panicked as the pain is unlike anything I've ever experienced not to mention I'm newly pregnant. I am admitted to ER and Tyler shows up. Long story short, the pain is unreal, but I can't really take ibuprofen any anti-inflammatory because of the baby... just Vicodin. They don't know exactly what it is aside from the fact that I have Sciatica, but no x-rays for this baby. The ER nurse takes my vitals and b/c I'm pregnant he has to look for the heartbeat. Well I'm new enough to this baby thing that I didn't realize at 5 weeks, the baby doesn't have a discernable heartbeat. Well the nurse finds one and promptly tells me I'm actually 10+ weeks. Well! That's interesting! As we're leaving for Chicago in a few days, I had to schedule an urgent visit to the OB/GYN - they did a u/s and confirmed I'm only 5 weeks.
And the back issue continues…
